Advice and Notations for Players Transitioning to Modus Operandi

A few notes on me, and why this page. I have been playing Simutronics games for quite a while now. I started with GemStone III in the old AOhelL days, then started wanding into DragonRealms when the portals first opened. I didn't make the full leap into DR until the bard guild was finally opened and musical instruments were a reality.

I love playing DR, and maintain all of my characters and my DR site, Dewsong's Parlor. However, recent In-Game events and changes left me feeling very disheartend with the game enviroment, most especially with the bard guild and our direction as a guild. So, I decided to take a break from DR, and why not have a shot at this other Simu wolrd I had heard a bit of, but had never visited.

The first day I wasn't so suire about the place. Trying to adjust to the new commands and style was frustrating, Modus is just enough like GS3 and DR to be familiar, and just different enough to drive a body nuts. All it took though, was my first meeting with some of the tourists (other adventurers) and I was hooked.

The Isle of Morada is exceptionally small compared to DR and GS3 (thoughy I'm more than a little out of touch with the current maps of GS's Elanthia.) It is downright miniscule. However, this is an assest of MO, not a liability. Not only can you avoid the necessity of waiting three hours for a boat to go on a seemingly endless journey to another city you plan on leaving almost immediately, there is the enviroment that the limited other tourists generate.

When I first arrived, I joked (privately) that my DR concerts had larger audiances than I had ever seen than the entire population of Morada at any one time. Once I got over myself though, I found that was exactly what I had been missing.

I've spent a great deal of time in DR bemoaning the greatness of days long long, back at the opening of the bard guild. I am fully aware of the few (massively few, I can only think of about 6 off the top of my head, and one of those was recently eliminated) true improvements since those days, but the close-knit community of that time is something I have missed ever since. And I see it again on Morada.

However, for all the reasons to love the isle, there are plenty of frustrations! Which brings us to this page. What I hope from this is to help any players transfering to/ exploring Morada from Elanthia, and perhaps too to show other tourists the confusions we face, for the better understanding of all.
