Tears of the Shadow
by Ysselt Ja'Haadraan
Ysselt quietly sings in a soprano voice:
"The moon is full and shining bright,
Velvet clouds reflect its light.
Newborn shadows upon the ground,
Dance and sing but make no sound. "
Ysselt slowly sings in a soprano voice:
"The silent song they sing is heard,
Not as music or spoken word.
But as feelings, yes that's the part,
Songs not for the ear, but for the heart. "
Ysselt longingly sings in a soprano voice:
"They sing a song of love and life,
The fire of passion, of tears in the night.
They sing of eyes where loves light gleams,
They sing of pain and shattered dreams. "
Ysselt lovingly sings in a soprano voice:
"They sing the song of love's first kiss,
They sing a song called loneliness.
They sing the song of joy and light,
They sing of truth and empty nights. "
Ysselt dreamily sings in a soprano voice:
"They sing to both the young and old,
Of summer heat and winter cold.
They sing of spring and young hearts brave,
They sing of autumn and of the grave.
Ysselt quietly sings in a soprano voice:
"The shadows dance, they run and play,
Their time is short, soon comes the day.
They know that with the rising suns,
Their lives will end, their world undone. "
Ysselt enigmatically sings in a soprano voice:
"As time flows on, all passes away,
But they fear not the light of day.
To end their life upon this land,
Will bring the hope of renewed birth. "
Ysselt hauntingly sings in a soprano voice:
"The shadows leap and soon take wing,
They fly away on the wings of dreams.
More jump and fly till they fill the night,
And await the kiss of dawns first light. "
Ysselt sadly sings in a soprano voice:
"But left behind, upon the ground,
Sits a shadow that makes no sound.
Lonely tears of her quiet pain,
Roll down the face that has no name. "
Ysselt quietly sings in a soprano voice:
"The tears roll down the weathered face,
Behind the mask that takes its place.
But no mask could fully hide,
The pain that burns so deep inside. "
Ysselt sadly sings in a soprano voice:
"Behind this mask of darkest night,
She learned to live, she learned to fight.
But train her heart she could not do,
And now she's lost a love so true. "
Ysselt dreamily sings in a soprano voice:
"When at last true love she'd found,
She felt her feet float from the ground.
But when at last her love was lost,
She felt the pain, she paid the cost. "
Ysselt quietly sings in a soprano voice:
"Within her clothes of darkest night,
She hides herself from the light.
But no matter what the disguise,
No cloth can cover what lies inside. "
Ysselt slowly sings in a soprano voice:
"Within the black that covers all,
There lives a girl that's frail and small.
A simple kiss, a gentle touch,
A deep desire that burns so much. "
Ysselt sadly sings in a soprano voice:
"He loves her not, she knows that now,
To win him back, she knows not how.
But just to share one tender kiss,
Would end her pain and emptiness. "
Ysselt quietly sings in a soprano voice:
"To end her life would not be right,
To cast no shadow in the night.
For should he call, she must be near,
His sweet, deep voice, she longs to hear. "
Ysselt helplessly sings in a soprano voice:
"Her mind says leave, her heart says stay,
And wait until the light of day.
So here she sits in shadows deep,
To guard her love while he sleeps. "
Ysselt darkly sings in a soprano voice:
"Within her robes of darkest night,
She quietly waits for dawns first light.
To bring an end to her empty pain,
Until the moon should rise again. "
Ysselt slowly sings in a soprano voice:
"For once the shadows start to rise,
The tears will come and fill her eyes.
Night will fall, the moon will rise,
And she will return in her disguise. "
Ysselt quietly sings in a soprano voice:
"To sit alone within the dark,
With shattered dreams and a broken heart.
With strength of will she sits and waits,
For time to pass and cast her fate. "
Ysselt hauntingly sings in a soprano voice:
"So if you are out on some dark night,
Look for shadows near the light.
A shadow's jade-green eyes, with tears below,
Remember this song and you will know. "
Ysselt sadly sings in a soprano voice:
"That I am the one within the dark,
With shattered dreams and a broken heart.
A silent shadow, upon the ground,
Who sits and waits, but makes no sound. "
